Monika: MS River Rhapsody
• Did you like working on the ship?
Of course I did! Why? Because of the money. OK, just joking, but it is important, too. Working on a cruise ship is a great experience for young people, possibility to meet many people from various countries, get a better understanding of what life is like in other parts of the world. Also, there is a chance of improving your foreign languages, as far as the professional growth is concerned - there are no limits to it.
• Was there anything you didn't like?
I missed at least one free day per week.
• What are your plans to the future?
After the season is over, I would like to take a bartenders course and I want to spend more time studying languages. Also perhaps stay in an English speaking country for a month to improve my English language.
• What is your message for other cruise job seekers?
Do not be affraid and give it a go! But nothing is free so firstly, improve your English language, get some relevant experience from catering and get ready for the work! In spite of a lot of hard work, there is also a lot of fun on cruise ships.
